• Rolling Sphere Method: Ideal for irregular or complex structures, this method simulates the movement of an imaginary sphere over the surface to identify vulnerable points where lightning may strike. • Protection Angle Method: This method is suitable for simpler structures and is widely used. Its application is straightforward, making it cost-effective for many standard installations.

• Mesh Method: Commonly used for flat roofs or large horizontal surfaces, the mesh method creates a network of conductors that evenly distribute protection across the entire area.

The external LPS design determines critical parameters such as the optimal placement of lightning arresters, appropriate down-conductor spacing to ensure efficient current dissipation and the location and configuration of grounding electrodes.
